Went to Helsinki to see two hockey games this past weekend. Had to take the Onnibus because the trains were super expensive. (the bus tickets were 29€)

This all worked out really well because I got an online friend to go with me so I didn't have to sit alone (which sucks and I don't want to do that again) She's a HPK fan and I wanted to see Jokerit play and both teams had a game this weekend so we went to see both :D

oanja: (text then I'm done)
So me and [livejournal.com profile] arilyn9 went to England this month (16-19th to be exact) Not that we saw that many places, just London and Birmingham. The whole point was to see One Direction live and we managed that... ^_^ It was pretty sobering to wade in the 7-12 year old's though. >_> Really not the target audience. x'D

oanja: (games DA:II Fenris)
Huh, the trip to England is only a little over a week away! Time is going by so fast. (this is not a good thing) I'm also kind of annoyed with myself for not feeling that excited about the One Direction concert. I wish I was more fandom loyal for longer periods of time, but maybe the concert will rekindle it for me.

I got one of those small suitcases with wheels yesterday, so now I don't have to lug a backpack with me. We'll see how that works out. It's bright light blue, so at least it should be easy to spot on the luggage carousel among all those black cases people have. :D

The Wild have been doing poorly as of late. Three game losing streak... It doesn't look good right now. I just hope they can get into the play-offs still, because if they don't I think the fanbase in Minnesota is going to revolt.  They got a new player on the trade deadline (Jason Pominville and he seems nice enough. There is going to be a short Becoming Wild clip of him tomorrow, I'm curious to see what it's about.) I just wish they would have gotten a defense-man instead, because right now everyone kind of sucks (even Suter and Brodin haven't been at their best)
And the next three games are against Lumbus, the Hawks and the Blues... and they are all doing really well right now. =(

I've been playing so much Dragon Age II, I always forget how much fun it is until I play it again. And then it's all: "One more quest!" for hours and hours.
oanja: (Random movie Top Gear)
[livejournal.com profile] arilyn9 invited me to spend the Midsummer weekend at her hometown and I was all too happy to go. I haven't really been to that part of Finland before so it was nice to see new places.

So I went and took some photos... most of which are from the HP tour (if you discount the 2000+ photos I took of documents and I think we'd better) and I'm posting some now \0/ (because it's not like I should be doing something more productive with my time... oh no, never that!)

oanja: (Avengers: Loki fractures)
I just realised that there is no way I can get to the airport in time for my flight tomorrow morning, unless I get there tonight. So that means I'll have to spend most of the night at the airport. >_< That seriously sucks and now I'm all grumpy. Definitely not the best way to end my trip.

I went to see the HP tour thing yesterday and it was pretty cool. I did spend wayyyy too much money though, buying all kinds of crap from the souvenir store. But at least I finally got my own copies of Quiddich through the ages and fantastical beasts and where to find them (or however they are supposed to be spelled)

It might be a good idea to try and take a nap now, as it seems I won't get any sleep tonight... *grrr* But at least I'll be home tomorrow, so that's nice.
oanja: (Avengers: Thor is amused)
It's actually pretty nice here right now, the sun is shining and everything.
The research down at the Archive has been going pretty well too, so can't really complain (well I might once I actually start reading through all the material and find out if anything I photographed is actually usefull to my topic)

I also think I'll actually have time to look through all the materials I might need! That is pretty good, because I was worried that I wouldn't have enough time. I might actually have too much time on my hands, I have no idea what I should do on Sunday when the Archives are closed. >_> I was thinking that it would be a good chance to go see the Avengers again, but that only takes care of a couple hours.

Oh and a funny thing happened today. This old man asked me for directions and I of course didn't know anything helpful... but the funny bit was that he asked me if I was Canadian and when I said I was from Finland he said "Selanne! The hockey player. He's from Finland, right?" which is all kinds of awesome, because you really don't expect old British dudes to know much about hockey. (which made me think about how I'm missing the games and that made me a bit sad, but hopefully I'll get to see a few games once I get back.)

I'm going to try and find a HMV today and see if Sherlock season two bluray has gotten cheap enough that I want to buy it. I'm also thinking that I should buy Downton Abbey dvd's if they don't cost as much here as they do back home.

The hostel where I'm staying in located right next to the train tracks, which was sort of annoying the first night but since then I've gotten used to the noise...

(This was my third visit to London and this was the first time I actually had Fish & Chips! It was pretty good actually, but I thought the mushed peas were a bit odd. And I also got a huge cup of tea here at the Archives. I bet it had close to 4dl of tea... Gotta love it)
oanja: (Sherlock John facepalms)
I just booked the see HP set tour thing... Wow, I bet it has a real name (Warner Bros. Studio Tour London) Don't ask me how much it cost not to mention I'll have to figure out how to get there (the train seems to be the fastest and cheapest option)

And I obviously want to go see the Avengers in an imax theater, so that will also cost a fortune. Wow my credit card company is going to love me...

Please don't judge me! /0\ I am going to do actual reseach as well! But the Archives is closed on Sunday and Monday, so I needed something to do on those days. *shifty eyes*

Dragon Age: Origins continues to kick my ass... I have no idea how I'll ever even get to the final battle when the pre-battles keep killing me. ;_; The Archdemon must be laughing at me so hard. (Why is the easiest difficulty setting still too hard for me? Why do I suck so much?)
oanja: (Bandom Brendom is very interested)
Finally I got my ass into gear and sorted through my Panic! photos.

This first one was taken by [livejournal.com profile] arilyn9 though, but the rest are mine. ^_^;

A lot of photos ahead (and some rambling) )

We went shopping while in London and I got two Austen novels from an awesome bookstore.

a few other things )

Oh noes... there is a [livejournal.com profile] werewolfbigbang and I have this idea for a fic, but after scrolling through the sign-ups it seems like a lot of bandom people are writing werewolf stories and now I'm kind of bummed. *pout* Because now it will just look like I jumped on the bandwagon on this.

But on happier news, tomorrow next week I'll be going to London with [livejournal.com profile] arilyn9, and how awesome is that?! Especially because we get to see Panic live for the first time! \0/ Whee~ (let's just not talk about how we ended up having two extra tickets that will be of no use and yeah...)
oanja: (Bandom Spencer looking down grinning)
So I went to see [livejournal.com profile] messy_kisses this weekend and it was so much fun! I had never been to Turku before so it added an extra dimention of exploration to the visit. [livejournal.com profile] messy_kisses was very patient with me and showed me around the city and waited while I played tourist and took pictures of every old looking building. =D

And that of course means: picspam time! \0/
pics or it didn't happen )
oanja: (KBell smug)
Sent my BBB fic in, so yay for that. \0/ (can't wait for posting to start! I need new fic to read!)

Edinburgh was awesome and I will do an epic picspam about it later, so for now I will share just one, because I want to. ^_^
oanja: (stock damn you gravity)
...When you go to bed at five am and at nine there are guys from the student housing at the door wanting to check the apartment because your flatmate moved out. Weirdly I couldn't go back to sleep afterwards so the whole day has kind of been hazy on the edges and my eyes feel gritty.

Also I haven't packed anything and my train leaves at three tomorrow (technically today)

Oh and trying to compare cellphone prices is a pain in the ass and there are way too many different kinds of smart phones around and I have no idea what kind I should get. Also the prices never seem to include internet charges and just argh! I really need a new phone though, my old one is almost five years old. Remember those days when everyone had the same model of phone and you could only play Snake? I kind of miss those days...

Not to mention that I will never be able to look back far enough on Tumblr when I get back on the 26th. *sniffle*

But! I am sure Edinburgh will be awesome, even if it rains every single day we are there with [livejournal.com profile] messy_kisses I actually think it has to rain, we are after all going to Scotland, otherwise I will feel cheated. (when I last when to Britain it only rained on one day. I made this face O_o because everyone always talks about how much it rains there but it was sunny and warm the whole time. xD I guess we just had good luck that time)

But sleep now. I think I'm really gettting old because I can't deal with the lack of sleep as well as I used to. Bummer...
oanja: (stock flaily)
Since the last entry I made here I got older. I'm kind of sad to say I'm now 25. I mean that is supposed to be such an adult age already but I'm really not feeling it. Also 1/3 of my life has gone already! But I didn't get my mid-midlife crisis on, at least yet, so that's a plus. (omg I'm going to be thirty soon!!!!!!!)

Also [livejournal.com profile] arilyn9  was here staying with me, which was awesome. (we watched a lot of Bleach and hockey)

Then I realised that the trip to Edinburgh is next week!!! /0\ So not ready for it... *flail* And that means I should really finish writing my big bang fic before going as the final drafts are due on the 27th! (oh dear...)

What is not helping with finishing the fic, is that I keep getting these ideas for new stories... Argh shut up brain and let me get at least this one thing completed first, okay?

And who knew I would get addicted to tumblr so easily. >_> But... all the gifs are calling to me!

Oh and, Finland has a chance to win a medal in hockey this year. Awesome. <3
oanja: (Default)
So I was looking through my old photo folders originally trying to find a photo of the surprise!goat when he was tiny and cute, failed utterly and instead ended up laughing at old photos of myself. And what would make better sense than share them with my friends online? >_>

Also to demonstrate my stellar decision making today I thought I'd share the fact that right now I am defrosting some minced meat (I'm gonna make lasagna) with the power of the sun aka I put the mean in a sunny spot on the floor (like it's in a container, even I'm not stupid enough to put raw meat on the floor as is)

But first of all, when I went to see that ice-sculpture contest this february (maybe) I was complaining that they didn't have any dinosaur sculptures. Well I actually found the old photo I took back in 2006 if the dinosaur skeleton ice-sculpture of pure awesome and now you can see it too!
dinosaurs are cool, especially the ones made out of ice )

And then to the many looks of me!

omg way too many photos of my face... you have been warned! )

A bonus photo from Edinburgh! [livejournal.com profile] messy_kisses  we need to talk about what you have been planning for us! can't think of anything to write here )

Uwaah~ It's like I'm living next door to a dentists office!
There is some kind of renovation going on somewhere in the building and I don't know what they are doing in there, but it sounds just like the drills dentists use. >_< I do not approve of this.

Also booked me and [livejournal.com profile] messy_kisses  the trip to Edinburgh! Can't wait for May now... \0/

AND I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang (I'm getting all kinds of things done today!)

Does anyone know where I can see those head things you can get for your LJ account? I mean the head that is in front of your username... Um, am I making any sense?

Didn't get killed while in the States. I'll post more about it with photos next week because tomorrow I'll leave for Tampere and Tracon! Whee~ (except for all the traveling... I could do without that. Why hasn't anyone come up with instantaneous travel by now?)

Day 9 ?

Okay now it's official: I hate planes. Got sick again and I'm sure it's because of the closed tin jar I was trapped in for hours and hours with who knows what kind of bacteria and viruses. Being sick while on vacation is the worst. Well it's just a cold so I should be okay soon, but still no fun. Also if this post makes no sense I blame the fever.
