I like to travel

arilyn9 invited me to spend the Midsummer weekend at her hometown and I was all too happy to go. I haven't really been to that part of Finland before so it was nice to see new places.



She lives on the west coast so of course I wanted to go see the sea, so here we are. The sand was all under the water at one point but the land is actually rising really slowly there so every year there is more beach. (and wow I suck at explaining) anyway, it's really pretty.

Yours truly... =D (the weather was pretty chilly, hence the jacket but the water wasn't too bad)


Then there was this random guy windsurfing (is that even the right term)


I think you can tell from this that the western part of Finland is pretty flat. You could see really far if there weren't forests all over the place. Also I had no idea that the name for this region in English is Ostrobothnia, it sounds so awkward...


You have to have a barbeque on Midsummer and we did! \0/ arilyn9 did a great job and everything tasted delicious.

Tomorrow I'm going to my cousin's wedding. It's so weird to think that we're old enought for that to be normal... (I think my cousin is 28)

Omnomnomnom! Now I'd want to eat something despite the fact that I'm full 'cos that still looks gooood! And you and Jenna cooked too so it's not all on me : D
And it was nice having you over for the Midsummer! ^_^

Btw. is that flat land picture actually one of those I took from the moving car? Because if it is it turned out pretty good for a picture taken at the speed of 100 km/h :D

ostrobothnia really is a strange name. it confused me for the longest time until i figured out it was the same as österbotten and that österbotten was swedish for pohjanmaa. XD i love pohjanmaa, though, the dialect is really adorable <3
and the food looks delicious!

Yeah I figured that's where it comes from, but still... so awkward. >_> The dialect is so contagious! I don't need to spend more than a few days with people who speak it and it sticks. ^_^; The food was very good. One of the only good things about summer is the food. *nod nod*

haha yeah. XD and yes! i spent a few days there two summers ago and it stuck with me too. best part about summer is the food, definitely :D

No I don't think it can mean anything else, it can mean a typo as well, but those are pretty much the same thing...
