Did any of you ever play? I used to play since Vanilla WoW in 2005 until early Cataclysm, where I burned out because I just never liked to world changes and I guess at that point I realised that I would never get to the level ceiling the casual way I was playing and that the MMOness of the game never really worked for me, because I just wanted to play by myself and it was too hard to do that except maybe with a hunter.

And yet, now I'm installing wow classic and subscribed for a month of game time, like the sucker I am... :D Well, I guess I just have to do this to myself, see how far the nostalgia value will take me.

I've played on and off since Burning Crusade, but the last few expansions really soured me on the whole thing. It felt like the game was zipping you through the regular quests, only to dump you in "you can't go here/fly/do this task/etc. until you get the achievement!" land, only all the achievements took forever to finish and without even the satisfaction of the regular "you completed a quest!" dopamine hits.

So maybe WoW classic will be good, if it's not working on the assumption that everyone is here exclusively for the final raid content and needs to be rushed there asap! I totally feel you on wanting to just solo a bunch of stuff and ignore everyone else.

I missed Cataclysm I think, so I was really confused when I got back into it later and all the areas had changed! Definitely the multi-player stuff didn't help keep me around bc I just want to kill things on my own peacefully and never deal with strangers.

Maybe I'll consider going back too!

I haven't actually played a ton of RPGs bc I've never had a game system or even a decent desktop, and a lot of them play badly on laptops. That was also one of the great things with WoW for me: it had combat controls that were easy to use even when I didn't have a mouse. I did play a bunch of Skyrim, tho I never actually made it to the endgame bc I'm no good at videogames, lol. I liked it tho! I like wandering around on my own failing to do storylines in the correct order and Skyrim was great for that.

I have heard many good things about Dragon Age, but never played it! Which one would you recommend starting with and do you think playing it on a laptop would be frustrating?

Did anyone get to the end of Skyrim, lol? This seems to be a common experience. But I sure picked a lot of random plants and carried them around!

Maybe I'll see if I can pick up DAII! I do like queer romances, and I have seen various things about the fic, but not read any of it. I do keep hearing good things about the whole series, I'm just SO bad at actually consuming media in a reasonable timeframe that something with SEVERAL games seemed like a lot. ;) But now I have a place to start!
