WoW classic
Sep. 11th, 2019 09:12 pmDid any of you ever play? I used to play since Vanilla WoW in 2005 until early Cataclysm, where I burned out because I just never liked to world changes and I guess at that point I realised that I would never get to the level ceiling the casual way I was playing and that the MMOness of the game never really worked for me, because I just wanted to play by myself and it was too hard to do that except maybe with a hunter.
And yet, now I'm installing wow classic and subscribed for a month of game time, like the sucker I am... :D Well, I guess I just have to do this to myself, see how far the nostalgia value will take me.

Date: 2019-09-14 06:40 pm (UTC)It's pretty much the exact port of the original game, so I don't think there's any shortcuts or rush to get to the end. They even went back to the vanilla days where you can get a mount at lvl 30, instead of whatever it is these days.
I think it will be fun to just mess around a bit for nostalgia reasons as the actual game didn't cost anything, so I just but 12€ into a month subscription.
What other kinds of games do you like? Are you playing any MMO's these days? Did you ever play Dragon Age? *nosy and curious*

I haven't actually played a ton of RPGs bc I've never had a game system or even a decent desktop, and a lot of them play badly on laptops. That was also one of the great things with WoW for me: it had combat controls that were easy to use even when I didn't have a mouse. I did play a bunch of Skyrim, tho I never actually made it to the endgame bc I'm no good at videogames, lol. I liked it tho! I like wandering around on my own failing to do storylines in the correct order and Skyrim was great for that.
I have heard many good things about Dragon Age, but never played it! Which one would you recommend starting with and do you think playing it on a laptop would be frustrating?

Skyrim is like the ultimate dick around game! I've played over 100 hours of it and I also never got to the end of the main quest line :D It's just so easy to get distracted by some side quest or just poking around to find out what's behind the next hill. Not having a PC is definitely a hindrance on most RPG's especially if you're not into console gaming either
Dragon Age is hands down my favourite game series, so I'm super biased when it comes to talking about it, but I'd totally recommend it! I think Dragon Age II is the best, it's the shortest and has the best story and it's so old now that I think it should run on a laptop definitely. I've never tried playing it without a mouse though, but if you played WoW like that I don't think it's that much different. The nice thing about Dragon Age too is that you can have same sex romances in game and they aren't treated any different than the het romances. Dragon Age II is the most character driven out of the trilogy and it's the one that always makes me cry (in a good way! I like when games engage me emotionally). The beginning might be a tiny bit confusing if you haven't played the first game, but I don't think it's worth it start there. The first game is so old and ugly imo (you could always go back to it, if you wanted more Dragon Age after the second game, as it is a RPG classic and has a lot of awesome moments)
haha this got long, but I have a lot of feelings about Dragon Age. (it also has a lot of fic written about it, if that sort of thing is an incentive at all :D)

Date: 2019-09-19 12:15 am (UTC)Maybe I'll see if I can pick up DAII! I do like queer romances, and I have seen various things about the fic, but not read any of it. I do keep hearing good things about the whole series, I'm just SO bad at actually consuming media in a reasonable timeframe that something with SEVERAL games seemed like a lot. ;) But now I have a place to start!
