These are the jerseys for team Finland. Why? Seriously, why? The whites are just terrible and why did they pick that red (official) coat of arms, when the one with the white background has been great forever. (I don’t actually know how long it’s been white, might have been red before) And they put the flag on the sleeves too… Are they worried that for some reason the Finnish players might forget which country they are representing while on ice?

This guy is dressed as a flag!!!!! (also who are these people, should I know them? Wow I'm a bad fan, aren't I)


Why did they change that triangle shaped coat of arms? Why? It's been like that for a long time and for a reason! If you google the coat of arms of Finland it looks like that red thing on the Olympic sweater. Did they seriously just do that and not look at what the jerseys have looked like in the past? Seriously I'm surprisingly pissed off about this. I mean I knew they'd be bad, as all the jerseys have been, but man...


Also I baked a pie and it has been delicious. If you add oatmeal into the pastry dough it doesn't taste as greasy and be so crumbly. I really liked the effect.

I admit I don't know anything about the history of Finnish hockey jerseys (though the old one you posted did seem nice), but I honestly think Finland got off fairly easily in the Nike jersey ugly-off? There's just enough going on on those to make them look official and suitably national, but without looking overdone and busy. I really like this trend of whites that are flags if only because it makes them much easier to tell apart at a glance than whites that are just white with a crest. Granted, I'm totally mentally comparing them to the terrible Canadian ones here, and it's not me they have to please.

Urgh, I can't get over the fact that someone approved all of these horrible jerseys for every team.

Personally I really dislike the idea of the jerseys basically being flags, I don't know, seems so lazy and even a bit disrespectful...

It does seem to have been a singularly clueless design committee.

It's going to sound silly, but I honestly hadn't considered that angle. It's possible this is just a Canadian thing, but I don't really think of flags as different from any other national symbol or particularly special (though obviously if other countries feel differently, they're perfectly entitled to.) It seemed like the natural thing to put on a garment that's supposed to say "$COUNTRY" in a loud voice.

Eh, I don't think I would mind it so much if it was something that Finland did usually, but we don't really use the flag on things, so it still has some, idk what to call it, gravitas or something. Also it's just weird to see a cross on the jersey like that... I mean they didn't do that to Sweden, so why did we end up with it. *pout*

Makes sense! I guess Canada just sticks maple leaves on everything all the time, so I don't think of it as particularly meaningful. I think Sweden refused to have a white jersey (or at least, I haven't found pics of one yet) so that's probably why they escaped.
