This is adorable to me! Also that he wrote Granlund wrong. Not that I blame him if he's only heard it and not seen it written anywhere. Also if they were at a concert.
Still, wild's Euro prospects taking in a hipsterish band. Rock on my wild bb's, rock on!

Then I have to write down a dream I had because it was just kind of lolzy. In the dream the Canada's Olympic team was having another camp where the main storyline was that Amanda Kessel had made the team. (this is already hilarious for many reasons... Mostly because she's American and women have their own Olympic hockey teams) So of course his brother was worried about all these hockey dudes hitting on his sister, while they were on the same team (Phil was there too. i guess my mind just doesn't really care about the difference between the American and Canadian national teams. Go figure) I don't really remember what happened here in the middle of the dream, but in the end Amanda got together with Jeff Skinner and she was super smug about it, while Skinner just did that dimple-y smile thing he does. Phil was not happy.

When I woke up I had to go 'wtf was that brain?' Because wasn't that like a plot of a bad het fanfiction??? (also what kind of pov do you have while you dream? Do you have dreams where you aren't even in? I feel like most of the dreams I remember are like this, where I mostly hop from one character to another [I was Phil and then Amanda for example and sometimes I was like the omniscient narrator] and the real me is nowhere in the dream, if that makes sense?)

Also, I succumbed and bought a Wild t-shirt that I saw in a store, because how could I not buy it, when normally you can't buy any NHL merch here. It was a men's t-shirt. but you can't really tell, except for the sleeves, which are a bit too long and loose for me. So then I had to try to take a photo of myself while wearing it and it went as well as you might imagine... And what else would I do with them but post here? :D (if you feel so inclined please give me ideas about what colour I should dye my hair)

First I was like 'let's try to do a smiley one' and then I messed up the self timer and ended up basically taking a selfie, while doing a fake smile. Good start obviously
mie2

Then I was like 'ooh, I should take my glasses off!' and ended up making this paranoid face instead... (also I messed around with photoshop a bit. Should I dye my hair pink???)
mie

Finally I just went for the Wentz face... xD Close enough

The last on is teh best! <3

And you should definitely dye your hair pink. Or wait, didn't you want it blue/turquoise?

Haha, I'm a total badass, didn't you know? :D

Well going from pink to a darker colour shouldn't be a problem, so it should still work out.

I guess we really did have things to talk about. xD Also I looked a viber and it seems okay, but I didn't download it yet. I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

....I won't lie, I would read AKessel/Skinner. That would be SO hot. :D

I have lots of dreams where I'm not me! The narrator is probably a good way to put that thing where you're observing, but not really physically there, even in the dream world? Sometimes I'm just specific other people, too.

And if they stayed together and had babies those babies would be super good at hockey... :D

Hee~ It's cool to hear other people have these kinds of dreams too. I don't know why, but I've never heard it talked about. Usually I hear about people having adventures as themselves and that almost never happens with me.

Hee! The roundest, smiliest babies!

I have some of those, but I'm often someone totally different or not involved. Or reading: I've had dreams in text before too. Not dreams about reading a book where I can remember sitting somewhere and holding a volume or whatever, (though I've had those as well, I suppose) but where all I remember is printed words.

So true :D

I've done reading in dreams too, but what I think is much sillier, is that I've had dreams about writhing on livejournal and going on tumblr... :D I guess my brain can't let it go even after I go to sleep. (I'm sure some people would say that's not very healthy but I don't really think much of it.) I've never had dreams that were in text format though, that seems pretty cool.

I think that might be related to how people think, maybe. Like one of my friends says she doesn't think in words, whereas I can hear myself 'talk' in my head if I'm thinking about something (it doesn't happen if it's something automatic, like I'm not going 'opening the door' while I open the door. [if that makes any sense]) but this friend of mine thought it was super weird and asked me if it isn't too slow to think in words. idk, it's an interesting thing to think about imo.

Hee! I've never dreamt specifically about lj or tumblr that I can remember, but I've definitely dreamt my morning routines before so it's like getting up, getting dressed, checking email, that sort of thing.

That makes a lot of sense! I also think in words. It sounds like it's in the same sort of way? So I don't think literally "I'm going to pick that up" if I snag something off a table, but if I was planning "ok, I'm going to pick that up, and move it over there, and arrange it so that it looks like this, and then it would be organised for $thing" I would hear at least some of that as English words in my head.

Oddly, I don't read like that at all, I don't hear words in my head from text unless I'm making an effort for poetry or something, I just go straight to meaning.

Does your inner voice have an accent? Mine is mostly me, but if I've been listening for a while to someone with a strong accent that's different from mine, it'll start to shift that way.

Heh, I dreamed about my internet routines... ^_^;

I hear words in my head when I'm reading things like comments here etc, but I don't hear words when I'm reading a novel. I think I need time to get immersed into the story before I stop noticing I'm actually reading words.

English isn't my first language so when I think in English the voice in my head sounds a lot more fluent and native, than my actual accent, but it's definitely my own voice (or at least the voice I hear myself, not the one I can hear if I listen to my recorded voice)

From: [identity profile] biggersandwich.livejournal.com
Ah, that makes sense. French is my second language and I'm nowhere near fluent speaking it, so it takes a while for me to get stuck in on reading it quickly and without listening to it in my head when I pick up a French book. And I can hear a French accent in my head that's a lot smoother than the one that comes out of my mouth, though the awkwardness of the phrasing doesn't improve.

What is your first language? And what do you hear when you read in that, if you don't mind my asking?

Date: 2013-09-05 10:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] oanja.livejournal.com
I think am close to native levels in English, except I tend to have an accent when I talk, especially if it's been a while since I've used the language. (not surprisingly I mostly tend to read and write it instead of speaking it)

I'm Finnish, but I never read prose in my native language anymore, as I like to read books in their original language (and all of my favourite writers write in English) and I find something always get's lost in translation. Also I find that dialogue doesn't flow or sound right to me in Finnish (there is a big difference between correct/book Finnish and the language you use everyday while talking to friends etc, so it throws me off the story) so I mostly just read scientific texts in my own language these days (for my studies) and I think I hear the words in my head, because I'm trying to remember the things and learn, not just read for pleasure.

Oh, absolutely! Your English is WAY better than my French. I never guessed you weren't Anglophone! Your description just seemed familiar to me. :)

Ah, okay. That's interesting! Sorry to bug you about this, haha. It's just so neat how you can't ever tell from the outside, but people have such wildly different ways of conceptualising their mind in their brain. I don't even know what it would be like not to think is words so much! ;)

Date: 2013-09-05 11:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] oanja.livejournal.com
Yeah and your description sounded familiar to me too! I mean I remember when English was like that for me and I know a few other languages in a lot lower level where I can't think in them, so it totally made sense to me.

No worries, it's a lot of fun to talk about these kinds of things. :D I really can't imagine it either. I don't know if they are connected but I think that because I think in words I also learn well by listening. Like yeah I can learn things by reading about them, but I find it easier to remember things if they haven been explained to me verbally.

Date: 2013-09-05 11:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] biggersandwich.livejournal.com
Huh, now, that's really interesting because I'm TERRIBLE at that. I learn best from books, and if I want to really recall things, I absolutely must write them down; it won't stick anything like as well if I just hear it.

But anything with words is still better than watching. For example, when I was first getting into hockey, people were always saying just watch it, but I couldn't follow what the players on the ice were doing until some people broke some plays down for me verbally and in writing, and explained what was going on. I couldn't see it until I had words for it.

Heh, cool. I personally don't really remember things better if I write them down. I mean of course it's a big help when revising a lecture or something, but I never do notes on books I have to read for exams etc.

But I agree with you on the visual learning thing. That is definitely not my strong point either. It made me think about how we learn as kids, like when you are in elementary school and they want to teach you how to play some kind of sport the teacher basically just had to show you and then the kids can copy and learn by doing it. But once you get to high school or something, showing something isn't enough anymore, you need to explain and break down things for students to learn new (physical) things

I need it for even tiny things, like if you tell me a name or a phone number it's - pfft - out of my head in seconds, but if you've got a name tag, or I write it down, I actually have quite a good memory.

Hmmm, I think I was bad at it as a kid as well, to be honest? I mean, I've always been hopeless at sport, but I also needed someone to explain the rules of games, even the kind of really simple boardgames you play as a kid. I could never play a bit and pick up on the rules based on what people told me to do/not do next. And some adults clearly can pick up hockey by watching what everyone does until it makes sense. But yeah, these things do change over time and kids learn quite differently.

I have so many dreams based on various TV shows or movies or whatever I watched recently, so I totally know what you mean about having dreams that you're not in. Like, I'll have dreams about Star Trek, but I'm not, like, on the Enterprise as myself. It's weird.

Pink hair looks good on you. You should give it a shot.

Ooh, I'm always jealous of people who can dream about things this way. I had this friend who would often have dreams about whatever she did before she went to bed, so obviously that is pretty nifty if you want to have specific dreams about like your favourite show or some other fictional characters.

Thanks, I think I might try it, seems like a fun colour to have for a while. :)

Yeah, but you have to be careful that you don't watch anything about serial killers or cults before you go to bed, which is an issue for me, as I am interested in both of those things. Generally, I'll make myself watch or read something lighter before I go to bed if I've been watching or reading something about murder.

Right, I didn't think of that. =/ Wouldn't necessarily make for a good night's sleep then.

I don't remember where I read it, but there was this study done about how people deal with nightmares and they found out that gamers have more nightmares in general, but that they also deal with them better than non gamer people. Like many of the gamer people told the researchers that in the nightmares they usually go through the dream like it was a game and usually confront and try to kill the monster or whatever is in the nightmare. I thought that was really interesting. (but kind of random :D)

From: [identity profile] musical-junkie.livejournal.com
That is really interesting. 99% of the time I'm aware that I'm dreaming in my dreams, so nightmares are usually not an issue. The big issue is the 1% that generally happens when I'm nervous about something, so I constantly have dreams where I'm late for some big meeting or interview.

From: [identity profile] oanja.livejournal.com
So can you also change the dream, like is it lucid dreaming?

For me, if I realize I'm dreaming it makes me wake up, which is kind of a bummer.

Date: 2013-09-05 08:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] musical-junkie.livejournal.com
Not really. It's more like I'm aware that I'm dreaming, so I just don't get too worked up about anything that's happening, but, like, the fact that I know that I'm dreaming doesn't really change anything in the dream. It would be cool if I could change what's going on. It would probably help me plot stories.

I always wake up whenever my dream's some sort of mystery right before I figure out what happened.
