people are annoying
Dec. 25th, 2011 11:06 pmSo I think this thing with livejournal is getting ridiculous. I mean seriously, people are leaving the site because the comment option looks different? Ah hah haa~ xD I think these days people just love to hate LJ...
Also now that this is already a ranty post I'll add that Tumblr is super annoying atm, stop posting all that Christmas crap already! Argh... I can't imagine how annoying that must be for people who don't celebrate the holiday.

Date: 2011-12-25 09:20 pm (UTC)the main issue though, is not so much the change itself but the way LJ staff is treating its users that's making everyone's piss boil.

Date: 2011-12-25 09:28 pm (UTC)I think the staff could/should have asked the users beforehand what kind of updates they would have wanted and which parts they thought were the most important before they did this major overhaul... So I dunno. =/
I have a DW I got it after the last mass immigration happened but never started using it. I just personally find it really annoying to use (the whole circle thing, or what ever it's called and also it's just ugly... I dunno, I guess I'm one of the only people who still likes LJ)

Date: 2011-12-25 09:33 pm (UTC)yeah. there's a lot of issues there and i've been following the update posts and comments and every now and then i've seen posts cropping up detailing what exactly is wrong blah blah, just to keep myself updated and in the know. i'll still stick with LJ. i do have a DW but i don't use it much because...well, it's on LJ shit happens. i'll probably never make a move to DW permanently, unless everything else also moves to DW in which case i'll follow. there's just no point in huddling alone on DW, you know? xD

Date: 2011-12-25 10:46 pm (UTC)The comment changes were a little annoying at first, but I'll get used to it, just like I get used to everything else. Nothing is ever going to be static and unchanging and I really don't think anyone wants it to be; they just think they do.
The really annoying riot for me was the free users all bitching about ads on their pages. I don't see how anyone getting a free service has room to complain, but they do it all the time. I'm like you. Don't like it? Fine, don't use it. They always come back though.

Agreed, if you don't like adds, get a paid account (that's what I did...)

Date: 2011-12-25 11:31 pm (UTC)It may be only me, but I find tumblr very annoying. It sucks a ton of bandwidth and it seems to have encouraged a whole slew of people to plagarize fic and whatever else they can get to. I have an account but I tend to stay away from it, unless I get linked to a pic or meme.
Happy late holidays, btw. My Christmas is coming to a close here, after a day at work.

Date: 2011-12-26 12:15 am (UTC)I only use it for the pretty, i.e. gifs and photos of my favourite celebrities. I get all grumpy when people use it to post fic, I think it's the worst site for reading stories, mostly because people have atrocious layouts but also because some people think it's an awesome idea to post fic without cutting it. D= I mostly dislike it because it's so superficial, like you can never get to know people on that site, talk to them etc. It's just a huge picspam imo.
Same to you! You didn't get any time off from work? That doesn't seem fair. I hope they at least paid you extra for working on a Holiday...

Date: 2011-12-26 04:28 pm (UTC)Here in Finland you get +20% when you work on Saturdays, +50% if you work nights and +100% if you work on Sundays/public holidays. So you would get twice as much pay on holidays. But it's also possible to get it in days off so maybe it's not so different.

Date: 2011-12-26 06:07 pm (UTC)There are some places of employment here that pay a higher rate for week-ends or night. When I worked at the hospital, nurses got shift scaled pay depending on when they worked, but clerical workers did not.
