Because I read a lot of fic, my mind went into a kink place first... So wrong. It's actually about disciplining you kids. I was really quite scocked to realise it's totally legal in the States to beat your kid as long as you say it's for discipline. It's actually pretty rare in the world to have laws against this. Here is the sadly short list.
I looked at the profile for USA and some of the numbers are gruesome, for example: "Sixty-five per cent of three year olds in a sample of nearly 2,000 families had been “spanked” by one or both parents in the previous month."
"in 2002, 79% of preschool-aged children were spanked, and nearly half of children aged eight and nine were hit with an object such as a paddle or switch."
I'm not saying Finland is perfect or anything but at least it's not legal to hit your child anymore. And it's worked too: "In 1988, around a quarter of the children had been smacked before age 14, and around a third had been whipped. In 2008, around 10% had experienced these types of punishment."
I think I need brain-bleach after reading all that. So I'm going to complain about fandon things instead. I'd take fandom problems over real life ones any day.
Pet Peeves:
Random ones that include all fandoms:
- People writing drabbles and calling them ficlets. I don't know why but this annoys me to no end. I think a ficlet should have at least over 500 words and preferably around 1000.
- People who write wing-fic in general, and especially wing-fic where the person with the wings gets aroused or even gets off on someone touching them. WTF!!! How does that make any kind of sense? Wings can be compared to arms, I mean that's where they evolved from (on birds but I'm going with it...) so how many people in the world do you think get off on someone caressing their arm? I bet not that many. I can accept the premise that the other person (who doesn't have wings) might fetishize the wings in the same manner as some people are into foot worship etc. Like they might want to rub against the wings or be touched by them and so on. Just don't make the winged person be so into it. I mean feathers can't feel! If you just lightly caress someone's wings I doubt it feels much like anything... Argh *rage*
Panic! Fandom specific ones:
- People who write Jon/Spencer fic and seem determined that Spencer is the subbiest sub ever, or at least the king of bottoming. Even in fics that are set later in canon... I can kind of see it happening when Spencer was 17 but not after Pretty Odd came out. I'm very annoyed that the preference seems to be set on the fact that Spencer used to wear pink sometimes and that Jon had a beard. Wow... awesome fandom. Not stereotypical at all. (I will admit that I'm biased on this though, because I don't like any pairings where Spencer is the bottom. So maybe I should get off my high horse. ...but I dun wanna. =P)
- People not writing enough fic with Ian and Dallon in it. *pout* I just want a lot more fic with the new members in them. Is that too much to ask?
Tumblr related ones:
- People threatening to delete their accounts. They never actually do it, and it's obviously just a ploy to get attention. I blame this one on the fact that most people in there seem to be aged around 15-17. Everything is always so dramatic. *sigh* makes me feel so old.
- Which reminds me, that there is this person there I follow, who seems to hate LJ... I mean, okay that's fine but do you have to mention it every week? I mean yes, it's completely different from Tumblr and if you are used to that site, I can see why you might not like LJ, but they should realise the sites are meant for completely different things!
- Which is my next point. You can't have a conversation on Tumbrl. And I hate seeing other people's ask things. I go on Tumblr to look at pretty things, I don't want to hear what you had for breakfast, or what some random anon asked you. Oh and could I hate those posts more that start like: 'Put a number on my ask and I will answer the question' and then you have a numbered list of meaningless questions. Argh *rage*
- People changing their url and icon every few days. I have no idea who some of the people I follow are anymore. *stomps foot*
SPN related peeves:
- That the show is still running. Guys just face it, your show sucks these days and it has done so for seasons. Just stop. It's really not fair to the fans, who have been loyal and still watch the show to see how you keep making it worse and worse.
- The fact that everyone seems to be able to kill Gods. Angels, humans. I mean WTF!!! I was so mad when Lucifer just annihilated that whole room full of Gods way back when. I mean dude! He's just an angel, made by God, so by that logic, he should be bellow all the Gods. And while I'm at this, how the fuck did the angels/God get to decide that, yay we'll just destroy the world! When there are so many other Gods in this world? They should have banded together and just wiped all the angels out and taken care of God while they were at it (if they could have found him) It pisses me off that they seem to think that the Christian God is all powerful when the other Gods are more like any other supernatural creature and can be killed. I mean Sam killed one! (well they said he'd be able to come back in a few hundred years but still wtf?) and then the Fates were working for the Christian God/and or Castiel. seriously? Beings from the Anchient Greek mythos... *keysmash*
- That people aren't writing good Bobby/Crowley or Castiel/Crowley or Sam/Lucifer fic. Just in general, I have been very disappointed with the quality of writing in this fandom. What's up with that anyway?
- The incest fic of course, just because I don't like incest. Oh and the blatant way the show keeps making fun of this. Like how people think they are gay, etc. Just the show making fun of fandom in general. I don't think it does justice to the show, it cheapens it. And also, I don't think they do it in a respectful way, if that makes sense? I mean I always get the sense that they don't actually like their own fans, the way the fans were shown to be in the episodes with Becky, or the convention etc. And the way they have started to make fun of the fact that the show isn't getting good ratings. Why do you keep breaking the fourth wall show, why???

About wings. I totally disagree with you! :D And this kind of gives away that fact that I actually like wing!fic, uh oh. But anyways. I think your point is somewhat valid but there are things around that fact. (remember that even mpreg is possible in fic so why not new erogenous zones?) For example there's the: wings are magical. And thus they can react to things differently from real body parts. Yes/no?
And also, depending on person I think there are people who get of on hand touching! Especially if your like 14 and shyly holding hands with your first crush, that might be like the ultimate pleasure, ever! :D Also I agree to the fetish point you are making. But don't you think that people can also fetishise they're own bodies or parts of their bodies? I think people might have certain spots or places, besides the obvious ones, that can give them erotic pleasure.
And in all cases, I pretty much think that everything depent hugely on the How you touch certain body parts. I don't think erogenous zones are places that automatically make you feel good if touched. Regarding to wings, I think that part of the fascination or touch sensitivity might be caused by the fact that those body parts are new. At least in fandoms I usually read, they are something that are grown or appear etc. But anyways, I like wing!fic, so just wanted to put that out there even though most of the points might not make sense or might be debateble on their own ^^;
I'm not necceserily arguing with you, even though I do like sub!Spencer sometimes, but why do you think that post!prettyodd! Spencer should not be a sub?

I agree on every point you make about tumblr D: I don't understand how people can become friends through that thing! @_@ And to me too it's mainly about the pretty, or interesting topics related to gender, sex, religion or history~
You just listed many of the reasons why I'm really hesitant to touch that show :D I mean, I'd kind of like to? As it seems hilarious and gay and so on. But thus far the negatives are clearly outweighting the points that interest me... Because quite honestly, most of the plot points seem really unplausible and ridiculous to me... Which I'd never say in tumblr because I'd be lynched at best D: And also, bear in mind that I've only watched about half of the first season so my opinion on the rest is purely from hearsay...
Now I'm kind of tempted about making something similar~ Or one with the things I like in fandom. But maybe not tonight...

I get what you are saying, but still... I just can't get past the point that wings are there for a practical reason, they have a purpose ---> flying, so in a way they are like legs, they let you move about. That is very unsexy to me for some reason. And yeah they can be magical, but then the question becomes, why? Why would touching them feel so pleasurable? In my head it just doesn't compute (and even mpreg has a purpose, a function, reproduction. And even though it's a ludicrous idea it still makes more sense to me. xD)
I agree that touching hands can be very exciting but I was comparing wings to arms. (hiustenhalkoja 0/) and they would already have hands, you know what I mean, they have all these body parts that can be touched to induce pleasure, so why would you need to add wings to this list? You know?
I feel the same way about tail!fic. It's not as popular but I've seen it. Usually it has the same effect on the person who has it as wings in Wing!fic. aka touching them makes them aroused.
Now that I think about it I think why I don't like this trope has to do with consent as well. Usually the wings are pretty big and everyone is gripping and touching them. Usually just out of curiosity and they don't know the effect the touch causes on the winged person, but still. They might as well be licking at the persons nipples or something! And how is that nice?
Um... maybe that's enough about that. =D I think we can just agree to disagree on this point. ^_^
I dunno, like maybe when Spencer was 17 (or so) he would have been less experienced and it kind of makes sense that he would let a more experienced (as Jon is usually in these fics) man show him the ropes, so to speak. But when he gets older he just seems more self reliant etc to me and Jon seems more flaky to me. But this is of course just my headcanon, where I just see him in a certain way... I dunno I can't really explain these weird obsessions I have about pairings and why someone needs to be the top. ^_^ I know they aren't rational choices...
I would pretty much read any pairing of the new Panic, at least I haven't read one yet that would make me go D= But yeah it would be best if we can keep the otp together. =D
Tumblr is really weird and I don't know how people make friends on it either... I suspect it can't be real friendship in any case unless the people already know each other from some other place.
You should watch like the first three seasons, they are good imo, and then if you continue with it, just let all the craziness slide off you like water off a gooses back. xD

Yes now, the first seasons too sound like fun but, their too scary to be watched alone at night :D The series being too scary was the reason I've only seen the first half of the first season XD

Haha~ I'm so set on my ways it's ridiculous) But yeah, I think something like my crazy preferences are easier to explain in person, it's really hard trying to put it into words. But yeah that is one of the reasons I like rps, nobody really knows what's canon, so writers have more freedom to explore the characters without being accused of getting ooc.
When we meet the next time maybe we should watch some? In any case I think that show is always much nicer to watch with someone else.
