Blue alien icon is appropriate
Jan. 3rd, 2010 11:10 pmSo I went to see Avatar.
1) So the humans on Pandora were sent there by a private corporation and not a country? The marines were mercenaries? Earth was dying? Seriously I could have done with a bit more details about the situation on Earth. Like what year was it?
2) Lady from Alien is still very cool. Letty from The Fast and he Furious was even cooler in this. Go lady marine go!
3) So aliens... why did they still have every same facial expression humans do? Why didn't they have two pairs of arms like most of the life forms on the planet seemed to have? In the next big alien movie I'd like to have aliens who are actually alien to us.
4) I liked the lady alien (No idea what her name was) Hated that her boyfriend/intended was made up to be the one dimensional bad guy who then ends up dead, very convenient for our hero who can take his place... very subtle... not.
5) The aliens (damn I can't remember their name either, something beginning with N, I think) seem to have a pretty equal society among the sexes but then the alien princess tells the avatar Jake that he's ready (grown up) now and pick a woman... Say what?
6) I think the aliens should have been killed in the end. That would have made a bigger impact on me, like to see this cool race just wiped out because of greed. It would have been a good parallel to what happened in so many places on Earth.
7) Hated the fact that the aliens needed this human to be their leader before they could win. Hated that he got the red flying dragon thing.

All in all, I kind of liked it. It could have been a lot better though. Also the 3D glasses made my eyes sore and tired. *pout*

Also! The aliens were the Na'vi and the main alien woman was Neytiri.

Date: 2010-01-16 07:01 am (UTC)To 1, dude, agreed plus three!! But it already -was- a three hour movie, and I betcha the creators had no brain power left after designing those amazing graphics and scenes and the plants on the world and wow it was so cool!! I loved the plants!
The Na'vi might have been cooler if they were more alien, agreed... but the movie would not have been nearly as accessible to the masses, I bet. Like my Dad. But maybe this movie could open up more options in the future, for more adventurous movies about alien lifeforms and different worlds!
And I know, what was up with 5? With Jake being the one to "introduce" the whole, "But this woman... she has to choose me, too" concept to Neytiri's thoughts, eww!
