Shopping spree...

So I went shopping and I was only supposed to try and find something for my mom and Ayaka... I did buy Ayaka her present but I still got nothing for mom. Instead I got myself the first season for Vampire Diaries (Don't ask me why... I hope it's not terrible.) But at least I resisted the urge to buy all the Harry Potter movies in blu-ray, even though they were cheap (divided by eight movies the price of one would have been 5€)

I was going to go see the Hobbit today but man it costs 13€ in 3D... D= I need to check what the normal version costs and think about it some more.

Anyway talking about movies got me sidetracked, because I also got myself a new scarf! It has the colours of the hockey team in my city and I really wanted it, even though it was expensive. It was extra awesome because it has the same colours as the Hufflepuff house and who can resist that?!

I almost got their new calendar for next year because it was hilariously terrible and so culturally insensitive!!! I don't know who is supposed to want it, do heterosexual guys want these kind of photos on their wall? (if it's for women though, thanks whoever makes fan stuff of thinking about us too... Hockey is not just for guys after all) Even if you don't care about hockey you should see these... xD

Oh my god I was grinning like an idiot while I browsed it in the store... ='D So so terrible it comes back to being awesome. Some of them were dressed as Vikings but for some reason google won't find me all the photos. Maybe because they were the least offensive?

I just watched the first episode and I'll keep watching, seems pretty entertaining. =D

I feel like it's my house, even though I always get Ravenclaw in all the Hogwarts quizzes. ^_^

I'm biased, they film it nearby in Covington GA. I keep thinking someday I'll run into Ian Somerhalder, but it hasn't happened yet :D

I'm totally a Hufflepuff - officially, I guess, since that's where I got sorted in Pottermore.

Oh that would be cool, I mean to live near where something like that is filmed. Do you ever see familiar places on the show? Is his character your favourite? I mean I've only watched five episodes so far, so I don't anything yet, but I really like Matt... I hope he won't die. (I'm kind of annoyed now that I saw some gifs on tumblr where it looks like Elena is a vampire, so now I'm kind of spoiled. I'm going to try and avoid those in the future, keeps things interesting. =D)

I got Ravenclaw there too, but I still think Hufflepuff is better. At least it has nicer people. =)

btw do you have tumblr, maybe I already follow you there but I thought I'd ask, just in case?

Every once in a while you can see downtown Atlanta behind them, and the house they use to be the Salvatore home in the 1860s is a plantation that a friend of mine used to manage (although I've never been there, they lived there during the season one filming.) Damon is definitely one of my favorite characters, although I'd have to say my favorite is Caroline. And yeah, tumblr is the WORST for spoilers. I'd managed to go literally years without finding out anything about the last Harry Potter book because I wanted to see the movie first, and tumblr spoiled me the day after it came out. :(

I do have a tumblr - http://sosaysbeth.tumblr.com/ It's a weird amalgamation of politics, crafting, and One Direction.

Cool! Caroline is definitely not my favourite but I bet she gets more awesome as the seasons go further. =) I've been really positively surprised by this show so far and especially by the female characters, who all have their own personalities and are interesting in their own right. I don't know where the show is going of course but I really wish the Stefan/Elena/Damon thing wouldn't become the main point, because I'm really bored of this kind of love triangle. *sigh* ^_^;

Wait what? you saw the movies first? =D I don't think I've ever met someone who did it in that order before, do you think it made a difference to how you view the movies? Like for me they were always kind of a let down compared to the books. But I really really loved the LoTR movie trilogy to bits but have never managed to read the books (I think the writing style is sooooo boring) but I know some fans who loved the books really hated the movies. ((sorry random))

I followed you, I mostly post 1D stuff but I've cut back a lot since this summer, so maybe I'm moving on to something else, so you don't have to follow back if it's not your kind of tumblr. =)

Yes, this show pretty much wins at the Bechdel test, hands down. They also have some pretty great themes about agency and owning your choices.

And yes, I saw the HP movies first. And then kind of wanted to keep it that way, as the series went on, because I didn't want to be comparing them, and I knew I would still like the books if I saw them after the movie. LOTR, I've only seen the movies - I tried to read the books, but I made it as far as Tom Bombadil in the first one, which is like 3 chapters in, and gave up. So very rambly, Tolkien.

I followed you back, but haven't really had a chance to look at it yet.

Yeah I have to agree with you on that, and it's awesome =)

Cool, so did you read the books after the movies were over? What did you think about them?
I got to the part where Gandalf takes down the Balrog and then gave up, because in the movies that is a huge moment and I cried when I first saw it happen, in the book... no reaction. I think Tolkien wasn't very good at making the reader care about the characters. But that's just my opinion.

After the first movie came out, I bought the first book in French to try to make myself practice but kept getting hung up on words like muggle. Then after I think the third movie, I read all the ones up to that point then would read the next one right after seeing the movie. I let a friend spoil me for book 6 because she'd finished it the day it came out & was dying to tell someone. But I didn't know anything about book 7 til the movies (even though my bff bought me book 7 right before part 1 came out) but got spoiled about Snape on tumblr.
